Happy Birthday Susan!

Happy Birthday to our oldest sister and best friend. We admire your beautiful servant's attitude, your encouraging smile and most of all your love for Jesus Christ!

When we need someone to talk to you are always there. You are truly our best friend and we have so many special memories with you! The times we have spent together we would never trade for anything in the world!

Happy 22nd birthday to you Susie! We love you!

Family Celebrations

Yesterday we spent the day celebrating our cousin Drew's high school graduation.

We met a new cousin, Baby Jeremiah who lives in Indiana, for the first time

The boys and some girls had fun target shooting

Daniel tried his hand at it and was able to hit a few clay pigeons

Reuniting with family we haven't seen in ages

Grandmom and Baby Mark enjoy a moment together

Sarah and Macey were more than happy to cool off in the pool

Mark even fell asleep!

After a long hot day of play John slept soundly

Today, after church we went to Grandmom's house to celebrate a birthday. Our little cousin, Kayla turned two years old!

Harp Recital

This afternoon Susan and Jennifer went up to Lancaster, Pennsylvania for a recital. They played sacred music with nine other harpists. We began going to harp workshops put on by the Marini family in 1999 using rented and borrowed harps. Christmas of 2000 we bought our harp made by Mr. Marini and have been harping ever since! :)
"I will praise Thee with the psaltery ... unto Thee will I sing with the harp, O Thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto Thee; and my soul, which Thou hast redeemed." Psalm 71: 22&23

Cherry Pickin'

And the earth brought forth grass and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.Genesis 1:12

The kittens kept us entertained while we worked! :)
We picked about 64 pounds!
The tree was just loaded with lovely berries
"Sittin' 'neath the shadows underneath the trees, goodness how delicious eating cherries!" :)
Cuties
Aww.. look at those little wiskers! :)
Glorious sunshine
Heading back to the house. A big thanks Mr.and Mrs Beachy for a lovely afternoon and many delicious berries!
Some of our cherry pitters! Such a fun job! :)

On the way home we stopped and picked some Queen Anne's Lace

von Trapp Children Concert

Last night we went to hear the von Trapp Children's concert in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Sarah, Amy and our cousin, Cloe watch "The Sound of Music" on the drive to O.C. Sofia, Melanie, Amanda and Justin are the great-grandchildren of the real Captain and Maria von Trapp, portrayed in the movie.

This was our third time hearing them in concert! We heard them first in 2004 and again in '05. They have all grown up and their voices have matured a lot since we last saw the siblings. They are sounding very professional, mature and blend beautifully.
This year they spent a month in Africa and sang for the president of Rwanda. Sofie said the president gave Justin a cow as a gift for singing for him! They have also toured and sang in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and the Philippines, beside the US and Canada!

They sang songs from the famous musical that make their name known all over the world. Most of the concert was a cappella~ or accompanied only by a fine pianist.
If you go to their web site you can see a short movie clip from their DVD and also their tour schedule. They are going to be in Philadelphia, PA with the Philly Pops this coming Christmas season for those who are interested! :)

After the concert Sofie posed for a picture with us, then we were able to get all four of them too! :)

Thank you von Trapps for such a great evening!

Learning about Bugs

Today I took John and Cloe (who had stayed the night) to the Galena library. We met up with Aunt Penel, Luke, Macey and Baby Mark there.
The library had storytime learning about bugs, then the kids worked on creating their own bug.

Luke and John had fun with the glue!

Macey wanted an all pink bug! We told her it looked more like an angel than a bug. :)

Swimming with Cousins

Happy Summer Days! Our kind neighbor, Ms. Margaret lets us swim in her pool and hot tub many times during the summer. Yesterday four of our cousins, Jaime, Cloe, Luke and Mckenzie shared our fun there!

Ahh...so refreshing!

I wonder how many more kids we can fit in here!?!

Smile!
