Our friends, the Smiths of Georgia are hosting a Father/Daughter Retreat this September. David Barrett and his daughter, Elysse will be the main speakers. The Barretts wrote a book called "Fathers and Daughters: Raising Polished Cornerstones". The event will include fishing, canoeing, games, a dress-up ball, music, fellowship and much more!

Emergency Surgery for John

Late last night John went into emergency surgery to remove his appendix. He had been in pain yesterday afternoon and we took him to the ER. The surgeon later told us the appendix was about to burst when he got to it.

John may come home tonight or possibly tomorrow. Please keep him in your prayers for a quick recovery!

It was always the wish of our Great-Grandfather to find his brother who died serving our country during the Korean War. MSG Nathaniel Jones and his RCT were hit by a surprise attack in December 1950. After fierce fighting and heavy casualties, Uncle Nat and the surviving soldiers were captured and taken to a POW camp in North Korea. He spent the next two winter months in Valley #1 before dying of his wounds. Sadly, Poppy died before he ever had the chance to bury his brother on American soil.

The Defense of Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office holds a annual government briefing for the families of the soldiers unaccounted for. This helps keep the relatives up to date on what is the latest efforts to bring their family members home.

Monday we went to Cincinnati Union Terminal with Uncle Colin. The terminal was used to transport thousands of soldiers during World War ll. The outside of the train station was built to look like the radios of that time.

Thanksgiving was held at our house this year. We had an exciting day with a new cousin born- adding to our blessings! We feasted, watched Charlie Brown, held new babies, visited with family and thanked the Lord for a wonderful day!

Yesterday Jennifer and Susan went to a Christian Harpfest put on by the Marini family in Lancaster County, PA. We spent the day with about 20 harpists practicing Christmas music together and receiving instruction from several harp teachers.

At the end of the day, Mr. Marini (who builds harps- Marini Made Harps) gave a devotional.

Our family was privileged to attend the "Reformation 500", a celebration of five hundred years of the faith of our fathers in the city of Boston. The event was from July 1st through Independence Day.

Bright and early Saturday morning, we left with friends, Rebecca and Wendy for Chincoteague and Assateague Islands! The night before we showed them the movie Misty, based on the book "Misty of Chincoteague".

We are privileged to have this young lady, Wendy, from Taiwan stay with us! She won a scholarship for a summer class at a university near us and we get to host her before and after her course.

Every year everyone eagerly awaits for the day we go to the Tuckahoe State Park. It turned out to be a lovely day and we all throughly enjoyed ourselves with lots of food, canoe rides and fishing.
